Tucker and Dale vs Evil trailer
The theme of this dark comedy is don’t judge a book by its cover and this is one of those movies that holds true from the title until you watch it. This was brilliant and breath of fresh air into the comedy/horror genre.
The premise of the movie is a group of college kids decide to go camping in the hills of West Virginia and run into a couple of redneck best friends, Tucker (Alan Tudyk) and Dale (Tyler Labine). Tucker has just purchased a fixer upper vacation home in the mountains so he and Dale are going up to it to start fixing it up. Of course the college kids see them as nothing but a couple of weird hillbillies and have already passed judgement on the two.
The college kids do the typical things they do when camping, one tells of a massacre that some hillbillies killed a group of campers here in these woods 20 years ago, and of course after the story they all decide to go skinny dipping, makes sense to me. Well Dale and Tucker are out fishing in their boat when they hear the kids splashing and can see them swimming, one girl named Allison (Katrina Bowden) climbs up on a rock unaware that the two are right there when she sees them she falls and knocks herself out. Dale jumps in and rescues her and they pull her into the boat, and yells to her friends “We got your friend!” They scream and take off running. From there the college kids form a plan to attack the two hillbilles and get their friend back at all costs, meanwhile Dale attends to Allison’s injury and Tucker starts his chores around the cabin. When the two parties come together its complete chaos and good bloody fun!
This movie had me cracking up. Usually dark comedies are just bad horror movies and not comedies, this is the exception! It is really gory but even in those parts you cannot help but laugh because of the absurdness of the situation. What is brilliant about this movie it is making fun of horror movies and manages to pull off a great original script. It turns the traditional views of horror movie victims and villains upside down.
Alan Tudyk and Tyler Labine are outstanding and funny as hell in this movie, kudos to them and to director/writer Eli Craig for such an original movie. I raise my red solo cup to Tucker and Dale. It is not a gut busting haha funny movie but you will crack up in a lot of the movies scenes. I would definitely rent this and check it out, I don’t think you will be disappointed!
I give this movie 4 Beers.
